Join us for a presentation of new experimental film by Logan Dandridge touching on memory, diaspora and Black futures. Register for free tickets on Eventbrite here.

This is a chance to see and ask questions about new work-in-progress that Logan has been developing through the course of his Fellowship with Cavendish Arts Science. Screenings of his short-form film work will be ongoing from 18:00 and Logan will be speaking about his work at 19:15.

Breaking Bread

In collaboration with Bread Theatre and Film, current Cavendish Arts Science Fellow Logan will be participating in a Breaking Bread session in person on 27th May at Candid Arts CafĂ©, London.

 

Join us to share drinks and nibbles from 19:00. From 19:30, we will be in the Basement Gallery watching new films that Logan has been making and discussing some of the themes referenced including cultural referencing, nostalgia, and religion.

Film Screening: Hale County

Logan will be running an event to show and discuss an award-winning documentary by RaMell Ross.

 

RaMell Ross is a cinematographer and photographer, and poet of image, sound, and language. His documentary "Hale County This Morning, This Evening" is rooted in a county established after the Civil War in western Alabama. Ross moved there from Washington, D.C., immersing himself in a slower way of life, experiencing the legacy of the South in the African American experience, as a Northerner who did not know it firsthand.

"Hale County This Morning, This Evening" is the winner of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival award for U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Creative Vision, the Gotham Independent Film Award, and the Cinema Eye Honors Outstanding Achievement in Nonfiction Feature Filmmaking. It was nominated for an Academy Award.

Logan Dandridge & John Cussans In Conversation

Join artist and experimental filmmaker Logan Dandridge and artist, writer and educator John Cussans in conversation.

 

Logan and John will engage in an exploratory conversation based on sharing and exchanging images, film and music clips. Starting from their shared interests in Gospel and Black music, Afrofuturism, deep space, sci-fi, spiritualism and ritual, and communion in music and dance, expect calling points along the way to include Bill Gunn's film Ganja and Hess, Aretha Franklin and Kendrick Lamar.
